Victoria Police officer granted bail after being charged with raping child

A Victoria Police officer has been granted bail despite being charged with child sex offences.

The 19-year-old constable from the Eastern Region, which stretches from Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs to the NSW border, was arrested following an internal investigation, police said on Thursday.

One incident allegedly occurred in November 2025 while the officer was off-duty, and another allegedly occurred in June 2025, prior to him joining Victoria Police.

He was charged with three counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16, and released on bail to appear before a magistrates’ court at a later date.

Victoria Police routinely provide information on the date a person has been charged, and the date and location of their next court appearance, but have not done so in this case, and have not responded to requests for comment.

In May, a 68-year-old Protective Service Officer was also released on bail after being charged with sexual assault of a child under 16 and possess and produce child abuse material.
