A New South Wales Police officer has been charged with possessing child abuse material.
The 25-year-old constable, attached to the South West Metropolitan Region, was arrested at Campbelltown Police Station in south-west Sydney on Tuesday.
He was charged with possess/control child abuse material-use carriage service and granted conditional bail.
“In June 2024, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation into reports an officer was allegedly in possession of child abuse material,” police said in a statement.
He will appear before Campbelltown Local Court on October 10, and was suspended with pay with his employment status under review.
