Indian NDIS company boss, 36, arrested over alleged $1.8M fraud

An Indian businessman has been arrested in western Sydney over an alleged sophisticated NDIS fraud, more than a year after authorities froze his $40M asset portfolio.

Jaideep Singh, 36, faced Penrith Local Court on Friday where he was refused bail after being charged with 12 counts of dishonestly obtaining a gain from a Commonwealth entity, and one count of intentionally dealing with the proceeds of crime worth $1 million or more, National News Network reported.

Police allege Singh was the director of a registered NDIS provider and “submitted fraudulent invoices, totalling about $1.89 million, between March, 2020, and January, 2024, for services that were never provided”.

The Australian government’s Fraud Fusion Taskforce (FFT), which was set up to crack down on rampant abuse of the controversial $60 billion/year scheme, began an investigation in June 2024.

In April 2025, FFT raids led to the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC) commencing restraining and seizure orders for 38 properties and 16 vehicles, with a combined value of more than $40 million. That civil process remains before the courts.

The vehicles included a Mercedes G-Wagon worth about $230,000, and a Range Rover worth an estimated $154,000, while the properties were spread across the state, including in Tamworth, Dubbo and Orange.

Singh was banned from the NDIS for three years in May 2025.

A NDIA spokeswoman said the FFFT was using “smarter systems, sharper intelligence and coordinated action” to catch NDIS fraudsters.

“With our partners, we’re closing gaps exploited by criminals, detecting suspicious activity earlier and bringing alleged offenders before the courts,” she said.

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner Louise Glanville said: “Conduct that seeks to improperly profit from NDIS funding undermines the scheme and takes resources away from people with disability.

“The NDIS Commission will continue to use its regulatory and enforcement powers to address non-compliance and protect participants from harm.

“Working alongside our law enforcement and government partners, we will continue to pursue those who seek to exploit the scheme for personal gain.”
