A 13-year-old boy has been viciously bashed and threatened with a knife in a sickening attack in Perth that was filmed and posted on social media.
The 30-second clip shows an African male wielding a large kitchen knife, another youth holding a long machete, and the victim being repeatedly kicked and punched at Coolamin dog park in the suburb of Ellenbrook on Saturday.
At the beginning of the video, which can be viewed here, the attackers can be heard demanding the 13-year-old take off his black jacket before the African teenager knocks him to the ground.
Others then run in, stomping on the boy and punching and kicking him as he lies curled up on the grass.
When the boy gets to his feet they again demand he take his clothes off, with some saying “strip him naked”, and as he starts to do so he gets kicked in the face.
The victim’s mother said her son is lucky to have escaped without serious injury, and said he suffered cuts and bruises, 7News reported.
Western Australia Police are now investigating the incident, and Police Minister Reece Whitby said he was “absolutely disgusted and angry” at what he called “unacceptable violence.”
“The kids engaged in this sort of violence is not acceptable. I saw what appears to be a kitchen knife . . . one slip, one wrong move, could have had tragic consequences that would have might have ended a life and might have resulted in a very serious outcome for those young people involved,” he said.
“There will be serious consequences, we will make sure the law is enforced, because this is unacceptable.”
