An African man has been stabbed during a fight which broke out between two males in the food court of a shopping centre in Perth.
Western Australia Police said the stabbing occurred at about 4.10pm at Lakeside Joondalup after one of the men allegedly pulled out a knife during the dispute.
The victim, aged in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries, and police said afterwards it was an “isolated incident” and there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
“Early inquiries indicate the parties involved are known to each other,” police said. As of Sunday night no arrests had been made.
Footage shared on social media shows the man talking on the phone while being wheeled through the shopping centre, accompanied by police, paramedics, and two other African men.
One woman commented on the post and said she was there and saw the victim covered in blood after an altercation between “young men with dark skin”.
Other witnesses said terrified children hid under tables during the fight while other shoppers fled the food court.
The post also sparked a discussion about mass immigration from the third world, with many locals saying the suburb had become more dangerous in recent years.
