Victoria gives $1.6M to ‘LGBTIQA+’ refugees and ‘transgender’ criminals

Victoria’s Labor government has handed out $1.6 million to a range of different “LGBTIQA+” groups, which represent homosexual refugees and “transgender” criminals, and push far-left gender ideology on school children.

Premier Jacinta Allan’s office announced last Thursday that a record 14 organisations across Victoria will receive between $100,000 and $150,000 each as part of the state’s LGBTIQA+ Sector Strengthening (LSS) grants scheme.

The now-annual initiative, which began in 2023 and is in its third year, will provide funds to a range of pro-LGBT projects across various Local Government Areas (LGAs) in urban and rural Victoria to support the “important work of organisations delivering vital services to Victoria’s rainbow communities”.

The projects will be delivered between April 2026 and November 2027.

Among the initiatives awarded funds include a grant to a “queer development agency” called Many Coloured Sky, which will use the funds to expand the group’s “dedicated casework service for LGBTIQA+ people on temporary visas and asylum seekers”.

Another grant will go to a group called Flat Out for their Beyond Bricks and Bars Program, which helps support members of Victoria’s “trans and gender diverse” (TGD) community who are “at risk of incarceration, facing criminal charges, or having frequent contact with police”.

Further funding will go to the controversial Minus18 Foundation to develop eLearning materials for Victorian schools, workplaces and community groups that will provide “accessible, evidence-based LGBTQIA+ inclusion training” including “allyship guides, video learning, and downloadable tools”.

The materials will be provided freely to young people across the state.

Transcend Australia will also receive funds to deliver up to three six-week programs “for fathers and father figures of TGD young people.” The initiative is aimed to meet “an identified need for tailored supports for fathers to build their confidence and knowledge around how to support and advocate for their TGD young person”.

A grant has also been given to the Zoe Belle Gender Collective “to develop and deliver a trans-led Train the Trainer program for the healthy masculinity sector”, which will be delivered in conjunction with “an expert men’s behaviour and violence prevention specialist”.

The program aims to “reduce harm to TGD communities by equipping those who work with men and boys with the skills to actively challenge transphobia, misinformation and gender-based violence”.

Funding has also been awarded to Transgender Victoria to deliver “3-5 Mobile Affirmation Station activations” across 2-3 LGAs in rural Victoria to provide “non-medical gender affirmation (clothing, grooming, styling, education and peer support) and one-to-one peer navigation”.

A further initiative relating to “rainbow families” will also receive funding and will focus on issues including “fertility, surrogacy processes [and] breastfeeding”.

“Only Labor stands for fairness and believes that equality is not negotiable. These grants are vital in strengthening LGTBIQA+ organisations and help build a Victoria where everyone belongs and feels respected,” Victorian Minister for Equality Vicki Ward said

“It is vital that we support and strengthen organisations working to meet the needs of our diverse LGBTIQA+ communities right across the state – and this year’s funding will do just that.”
