Quebec’s moral decay takes centre stage as three men, not content with a traditional family, demand recognition as a “throuple” raising a child.
Eric LeBlanc, Jonathan Bédard, and Justin Maheu, after seven years of manoeuvring, adopted a three-year-old girl through Quebec’s Youth Protection Services, the Toronto Sun reports.
Their victory followed a gruelling evaluation and two years of fostering, despite Quebec’s civil code limiting legal parenthood to two.
“She’s perfect,” LeBlanc told CTV, describing the girl as curious, energetic, and playful.
Their initial adoption attempt failed due to Quebec’s two-parent rule.
A lawyer secured a second agency’s approval, with LeBlanc claiming, “Through that process they learned that we are a little different because we’re three, but we’re not different from any other family.”
Ontario and British Columbia allow multiple legal parents, but Quebec resists.
A Superior Court judge last April declared the two-parent limit “unconstitutional,” ordering a civil code change within a year.
Quebec’s government appealed, and the Justice Ministry remains mum.
LeBlanc anticipates a Supreme Court fight, stating, “We think that either way it might go all the way to the Supreme Court.”
He added, “We’re saddened from the fact that we’re not backed by our own government, which is supposed to be an open government that wants to help every single family.”
Quebec’s refusal to recognise all three men as parents forces them to rely on private arrangements for their daughter’s care and future.
LeBlanc insists, “We are lucky to be three to give her all that support, but I think we are the lucky ones to have her in our life.”
La Coalition des familles LGBT+ backs their case, pushing for legal recognition of such “diverse” families.
Yet this arrangement mocks the sanctity of family, dragging an innocent child into a social experiment.
Society must decide: will it uphold timeless principles or surrender to a fringe agenda that redefines family beyond recognition?
