Aussie mums and dads have blasted woke childcare centres and preschools for renaming Mother’s Day to “Parent’s Day” or “Family Day” to make it more “inclusive”.
A Sydney preschool is holding a “Parent’s and Carer’s” morning tea, another changed the name of its Mother’s Day event to “Family Day Breakfast”, and a third will be selling gifts for dads at a market stall on Sunday to accommodate “diverse” families, The Courier Mail reported.
Peak childcare advocacy group Early Childhood Australia has also previously released official advice for educators containing a guide written by far-left homosexual group Rainbow Families.
“We know Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are important days to celebrate, but they can be tricky for children from diverse families,” the guide said.
“Mother’s Day and Father’s Day present some challenges for families that don’t have a mum and dad. Schools can be supportive of all families by honouring how individual families choose to celebrate the day.”
But fed-up parents slammed the idea on social media, calling it political correctness gone mad.
“No way – only a woman can give birth – that’s a mother,’’ one mum wrote on Facebook.
“It’s for mothers. Daddy’s day is in September, all others have 1st April,” said another parent.
“Every child had a mother, or they wouldn’t be here, celebrate that,” suggested a third.
