A Victoria Police sergeant has been charged with sexual assault and misconduct in public office over incidents that allegedly occurred while he was on duty.
The 62-year-old male officer from the Western Region, which covers the western half of the state from the outskirts of Melbourne to the South Australian and NSW borders, was charged following an internal investigation.
Police said the incidents allegedly took place between August 2024 and August 2024.
The sergeant was charged on summons, meaning he was not taken into custody or required to apply for bail, and is living unrestricted in the community until he faces a magistrates’ court at a later date.
