A 15-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being attacked by a group of machete-wielding Middle Eastern thugs in a Melbourne park.

The Alkira Secondary College student was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for wounds to his neck, back, arms and hands after being stabbed and slashed by three males in Cranbourne North at about 3.20pm on Monday afternoon.

The victim had just left school when he was attacked at Sabel Reserve Playground, and Victoria Police are now hunting for three suspects aged 16 to 20, of Middle Eastern appearance, and wearing dark clothing and hoodies, 7News reported.

Detective Inspector Mark Patrick said the victim was with two friends when the three thugs started calling out to them and taunting them.

“It was similar to a war cry when you go into battle to create fear in their intended victims,” he said.

“It was an extremely violent attack … they started chasing him to Sabel park, lashing out with their weapons, causing serious injuries to that young man.”

He said the victim was not known to police, and the name of the hospital where he is being treated is not being released out of fears for his safety.
