A furious Melbourne resident has unleashed at Victoria Police for failing to turn up when an African thug was trying to break into his mother’s home in broad daylight.
The man shared a CCTV image of the intruder on the Cranbourne East property at 4.12pm on Monday, and called the response “absolutely disgraceful” in a post addressed at police on a local community page later in the evening.
“At approximately 4pm this afternoon, the usual suspect was at my mum’s front door actively trying to break it down while my little sister was home alone. He then jumped the back fence and tried to get in the back doors,” he said.
“She was terrified and called for police assistance while he was literally at the front door attempting to get inside. Despite this, police did not attend.
We later found him walking a few streets away and cornered him, and made multiple further calls to police. We are still waiting for police to attend.”
The man then asked: “What are people supposed to do in a situation like this when police don’t come?”
“We don’t want to take matters into our own hands. That’s exactly why we call the police. But when you repeatedly ask for help during what appears to be an active break-in and nobody shows up, it leaves people feeling completely abandoned,” he said.
“Thankfully, nothing worse happened this time. But what happens if next time the person gets through the door and someone is seriously hurt?
“Victoria Police needs to explain why an emergency call at approximately 4pm, followed by numerous further calls after the alleged offender was located nearby, has resulted in us still waiting for police attendance.”
Frustrated locals called the police inaction disappointing, and several reported seeing highway patrol cars on the same road as the house at the same time.
“I was leaving my house at 4, and highway patrol had someone pulled over off Kingdom Drive,” said one.
“Revenue raising. They like to hand the fines out. They get rewarded for it,” said another.
“Victoria Police is not as reliable and dependable as compared in the past. They now choose what case they want to attend. I do not trust them my life anymore. They have been affected by bureaucracy that the Labor government started and became a norm in this state,” another said.
Others blamed multiculturalism and mass immigration, called for Castle Law, and asked the man to post a photo showing the intruder’s face.
