Five young girls and a boy raped after illegal immigrant invasion of Spain

At least five underage girls and a young boy have been raped since 80,000 African illegal immigrants invaded Spain late last month, medical sources have confirmed.

The girls, aged 14 or younger, arrived in the Spanish territory of Ceuta on the northern tip of Morocco during the mass border breach on July 30 and 31, and were treated by the Ceuta University Hospital over the past week.

An emergency doctor at the hospital, Susana Ascaso, confirmed to local media outlet El Pueblo De Ceuta that she had treated multiple 14-year-old female rape victims, and said vulnerable young girls were being forced to sleep on the streets because children’s shelters were full.

“The population that has arrived is mostly made up of young, strong adults. Therefore, we are having many problems,” she said.

Authorities have claimed that all but 2,500 of the invaders, who were mainly from Morocco and Sudan, had been sent back over the border, but Dr Ascaso said the hospital was treating 300 to 400 illegal immigrants per day.

Dr Ascaso said the hospital, which is only equipped to serve the enclave’s population of about 83,000, had now been divided into separate areas for illegal immigrants and locals, who she said “also have the right to receive care”.

Medical sources also told Euronews an underage boy had also been raped, more than a dozen cases of sexual assault had been treated, and that the actual number of victims may be higher.

One of the rapes is being investigated by Spain’s National Police, and involved a young girl who entered Ceuta during the illegal immigrant influx and was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Locals have intervened to prevent several attempted rapes, judicial sources said, but no arrests have been reported.

Abdellah Mustafa, the president of a neighbourhood association in the area of Sidi Embarek near the border, where hundreds of illegals are living in makeshift camps, said he had seen young girls arriving in a state of shock after being raped, and that many were too traumatised to make police reports.

Spanish authorities said that 80 people died during the invasion, which came just weeks after the government allowed 1.2 million illegal immigrants to apply for residency, while Morocco reported 11 deaths on its since of the border.
