A male who claims to be a “transgender” woman has been appointed to the second-highest position on the woke City of Sydney Council.
Olly Arkins, who is described as the City of Sydney’s “first openly trans councillor” in his official Council profile, was unanimously elected Deputy Lord Mayor on Monday night, replacing Jess Miller.
He celebrated the appointment in a video on Instagram where he walked through Town Hall in a skirt and stockings, and said he had been working on giving Sydney a “better nightlife”, and an “app to pay for parking”.

Mr Arkins was first elected as a councillor in 2024, and said his four main priorities as Deputy Lord Mayor would be affordable housing, the delivery of council services by staff instead of contractors, the establishment of special entertainment precincts, and support for a community radio station.
“We can take our place as a global city, while deeply respecting our history – particularly that of First Nations (sic) people, whose culture should be at the forefront of how we set policy,” Mr Arkins told Star Observer.
“I’m ready to get to work on making Sydney a city that’s easy and enjoyable to live in, and one people around the world are desperate to visit.”
The appointment sparked debate on social media, with many saying wokeness had gone too far.
“Of course he was unanimously elected. Nobody would dare say no to a trans identifying man. Everyone knows what happens when you say no to them,” said women’s rights activist Angie Jones.
“I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” wrote another Aussie.
Mr Arkins will serve under long-serving Lord Mayor Clover Moore, who is well known for her far-left initiatives, including the sponsoring of LGBT events for children, and the banning of gas in new buildings to combat “global boiling”.
