Two teenagers have been hospitalised and three men arrested after a fight between machete-wielding youths in a western Sydney park.
The violence broke out just before 8pm in CV Kelly Park in Girraween on Friday night, and two people fleeing the scene smashed into multiple parked cars while trying to escape.
Video obtained by 7News shows one man of Pacific Islander appearance in a hi-vis shirt waving a long machete next to the smashed vehicles, and could be seen appearing to wipe down the blade.
He was later filmed sitting in the back of a police van after being arrested, while a male of African appearance was seen in handcuffs with evidence bags covering his hands.
A male voice could also be heard saying “if it wasn’t for me someone would have died .. he’s probably dying over there, he’s coughing up blood”, and “clean the knife, clean the knife, so I don’t go to jail for nothing”.
Hours later two males aged 17 and 19 took themselves to hospital.
Three other men, two aged 19 and one aged 20, were arrested, but refused to assist police with their inquiries. They were released from custody on Saturday morning.
Local resident Bijit Dey, who was sitting in his driver’s seat when his car was hit, said he heard one of the males saying “I want to kill them, I want to smash them” and that it looked like one of the men “wanted to kill everyone”.
He then broke down in tears recounting how his six-year-old son heard the violence and gave him a hug afterwards while asking if he was okay.
