A Muslim man has been arrested over alleged Islamic terrorist material – the sixth to be charged during an ongoing investigation into ISIS-linked activity in Melbourne.
The 30-year-old, who lives in Roxburgh Park, was arrested on Saturday night on a flight bound for the Middle East and charged with one count of possessing violent extremist material, and with refusing to provide access to his electronic devices.
The Australian Federal Police said they would allege the man was part of a group chat with five other men, who were charged in May after allegedly sending, sharing and receiving terrorist content.
Four Muslim men have been arrested in a series of raids carried out in suburban Melbourne and charged with allegedly possessing and sharing ISIS propaganda.

Commander Counter Terrorism South Paula Hudson the man was allegedly part of an “online extremist network” that was motivated by sharing and distributing ISIS propaganda.
“Creating and sharing violent extremist material can be the gateway to terrorism. It desensitises individuals, including youth, to violence and creates a permissive environment to normalise hate. That’s why the AFP takes this crime type so seriously,” she said.
“Let me be extremely clear – this harmful content holds no place in our society. The sharing and distribution of extremist material, including images and videos of graphic acts of violence such as beheadings, shootings, bombings, rape and violent assaults is unacceptable in our community.
The fifth man to be charged, a 25-year-old from Meadow Heights, was arrested after arriving at Melbourne airport from Malaysia in mid-May, and four other Muslim men were arrested in a series of raids across the city earlier that month.
One man, who lives in Roxburgh Park and is now 20, was stopped by Australian Border Force officers after arriving from Turkey on November 29, 2024, and another, now 21, was intercepted while trying to leave for Turkey on June 1 last year.
AFP officers from a National Security Investigations (NSI) team then raided four homes in Roxburgh Park, Clyde South and Meadow Heights, seized more devices, and arrested the 20 and 21-year-olds, and two men from Clyde North aged 19 and 29.
A police firearm was accidentally discharged at one of the Roxburgh Park properties, but no one was injured, police said.
