A Muslim Uber driver has been charged with raping a female passenger in Sydney’s inner west.
Mohamad Pili-Bake, 48, picked up the woman when she finished work at 7am on Sunday, May 5, and allegedly touched her inappropriately.
Police claim he then drove her to a nearby park and allegedly raped her there, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The woman reported the alleged attack immediately after he dropped her off, and went to a nearby hospital.
NSW Police arrested the driver five days later on McCrossin Avenue in Birrong, in the city’s south-west, a suburb which is 24.9% Muslim.
He was later charged with sexual intercourse without consent and sexually touch another person without consent, and refused bail.
The driver then faced Parramatta Local Court on May 11, and was remanded in custody.
He is yet to enter a plea.
