A man has been been banned from a shopping centre in Sydney’s west after police received reports he was allegedly pretending to shoot a gun from a carpark balcony.
A video recorded by terrified shoppers shows the brown-skinned man taking photos or filming with his mobile phone at the complex in Mount Druitt last Saturday morning.
When the man turned around the person behind the camera ducked down in fear, and then filmed the man appearing to aim a handgun from the rooftop carpark.
NSW Police said officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command responded to reports of a man acting suspiciously, and were told a 42-year-old man was “allegedly mimicking shooting a firearm from the balcony of a shopping complex”.
“Police searched the man, however, no items of interest were located. The man was banned from entering the shopping complex for a period of 12 months,” police said.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
