A controversial Victorian senator with a history of anti-Australian activism has interrupted a speech by King Charles in Canberra.
Green-turned-independent Lidia Thorpe, who is less than 50% aboriginal, turned up at Parliament House on Monday wearing animal skins and launched into a profanity-laced tirade.

“You are not our King, you are not sovereign, you committed genocide against our people,” she shouted.
“Give us back our land, give us what you stole from us – our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people.
“You destroyed our land. Give us a treaty, we want a treaty in this country. You are a genocidalist, this is not your land, this is not your land, you are not my King, you are not our King.”
Then as she was being escorted out by security she shouted: “Fuck the colony, fuck the colony”.
During the outburst King Charles looked mildly amused, and could be seen turning to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Ms Thorpe’s father is a White Australian who has previously said he is disappointed in how she has abandoned her English and Irish heritage, and her mother is also only part aboriginal.
At her swearing-in ceremony in 2022 she disrespected Queen Elizabeth II by adding “the colonising” before her name in the Oath of Allegiance, but was forced to back down and later recited the pledge accurately.
She has also made controversial comments about the Australian flag, praised an aboriginal arson attack on Old Parliament House, has openly admitted “infiltrating” parliament, wants White Australians to pay reparations, and was referred to police over her links to outlaw motorcycle gangs.
