Residents of the New South Wales town of Kempsey have torn down every poster for a controversial homosexual festival where scantily clad “drag queens” cavorted in front of young children.
One of the organisers of the It’s OK on the Macleay festival, which describes itself as “celebrating diversity” and is openly aimed at minors, said upset locals wrote “it’s not OK with God” on the posters, and when they were replaced, did it again.
“It’s OK on the Macleay is a family-friendly event, for people of all ages and abilities. A safe place for everyone to enjoy a day of live music, performances, dancing and various fun-filled activities, but with a clear focus on LGBTIQ+ people, in particular LGBTIQ+ youth, their families, friends and allies,” organisers Kempsey Families said.
The annual event, which is supported by the town’s left-wing council, went ahead on Sunday despite the community opposition, and featured an aboriginal “drag queen” with the sexualised name “Chocolate Boxx”, and another man dressed as a woman called “Cassie O”.
“Unfortunately, in Kempsey all our posters were torn down and in the main street they actually had comments written on them,” organiser Paul told ABC News.
“It was horrible, absolutely horrible … they actually whited it all out and wrote ‘It’s not OK with God’ on every single one.
“We took them down or put new ones over the top of them, but then they did it again; they were pretty determined.”
Photos from last year’s event show numerous young children, some dressed in rainbow attire, watching drag shows and burlesque dances.
There were also stalls staffed by the local library, the council, and various homosexuality and “transgenderism” advocacy groups including controversial far-left taxpayer-funded organisation ACON.
The backlash against the event came after irritated locals in Tasmanian responded similarly to “pride” flags being hung in the streets earlier this year, and corporate sponsors pulled out of regional events due to community opposition.
