A campaign for new 30km/h speed limit zones in the Canadian city of Toronto featuring a photo of what appears to be an interracial homosexual couple with a baby has sparked a massive backlash.
The City of Toronto posted about the speed limit changes on its social media pages on the weekend, and included an image showing an overweight White man wearing a shirt saying “maximum 30 area begins” walking next to a brown-skinned man pushing a stroller.
“New 30km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area. Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer,” the post stated.

But the choice of image resulted in hundreds of mainly critical comments on X, and the account then locked comments for what it called “numerous violations of the City of Toronto’s social media terms of use”.
“This image is demonic,” wrote journalist Dan Lyman.
“Nothing says speed limit safety like an interracial gay couple pushing a baby stroller,” read another popular comment.
“This is what the City of Toronto believes is representative of the average Canadian family,” said another.
Right-wing Australian senator Ralph Babet also weighed in, writing: “These absolute retards locked their comments section because they were getting roasted non-stop. 30km/h.”
“But more importantly why does the picture have two men and a pram? Western civilisation is being destroyed. We must not put up with crap like this.”
