Thousands of patriots march through Brisbane demanding end to mass immigration

Thousands of patriotic protesters have marched through Brisbane demanding a five-year immigration halt and an end to foreign lobbying in Australian politics.

Demonstrators held a banner saying “save the nation, stop immigration” as they marched from Emma Miller Place in the city centre at midday on Saturday.

Footage of the march shows an estimated 3,000 protesters chanting “Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi” and “Albo’s a wanker” as they followed a mock coffin representing the death of foreign lobbying.

There were also flags supporting war hero Ben Roberts-Smith, signs saying “fire the liar”, and many demonstrators turned up wearing orange One Nation T-shirts.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson originally intended to speak at the rally, but pulled out last week amid security fears after her office was unable to secure protection from the Australian Federal Police.

Organiser Scott Challen from Australia Marches said he had been advised that “hard budget restraints applied by the Albanese Labor Government” were to blame.

Mr Challen and Australian Lobby Group co-founder Sam Bamford, the combat veteran host of the popular 2 Worlds Collide Podcast, made speeches after the rally at a stage set-up at Speaker’s Corner near Queensland Parliament.

At one point during the march Mr Challen led chants of “end mass immigration”, followed by “I don’t care” and “I’m not a racist”.

The rally was also attended by right-wing influencers, including Andre “Ausmaxx” Mamet, who marched behind the banner but did not take the stage, unlike at a similar free speech rally in the same city on August 30.

He said ahead of the demonstration that protesters would be calling for a hard five-year immigration halt, a major reduction in temporary visas, stronger enforcement of current visa rules, and a review of Australia’s migration system.

“Australia cannot keep increasing its population faster than we can build the houses, roads and infrastructure required to support it,” he said.

“When you realise that Britain’s extraordinary net migration surge amounted to around 3.8% of its population, while Australia’s was around 5.1%, you begin to understand the scale of what has happened here.

“Our position is straightforward. Shut the gates hard for five years, get the country back under control and then have an honest national conversation about what immigration should look like going forward.”
