It’s not exactly obvious how a street march will translate into political change, and most don’t. But sometimes they do.
The original March For Australia on August 31 last year was one of these rare instances where a street march actually made a difference. That many bodies in the street nationwide proved to the entire country that nationalism had returned as a political force, and elevated the debate around mass immigration back into mainstream focus.
Despite the government and media telling everyone to stay home because it was secretly run by nazis, the people showed up in defiance, setting off chain reactions of social legitimation that staunch views against mass immigration were no longer “fringe”. One Nation’s subsequent rise in the polls owed a lot to that day. And if the White Australia Party wasn’t banned by the government, it would have owed a lot to that day in kickstarting its entrance into Australian politics.
The uniparty’s multicultural police state responded to this like all authoritarian regimes do – by ratcheting up political policing, jailing several people involved in the rallies for speech crimes, and ultimately banning the most important organisation which supported the rallies as a “hate group”.
This is why tomorrow, we’re marching for free speech. Because anti-immigration activism clearly needs protections put in place before it’s criminalised out of existence.
Everyone can see that the Australian people are fed up with immigration. The salience of this issue is realigning electoral politics and creating pressure on the government to significantly lower immigration if they want to stay in power. Pressure that One Nation’s treacherous rug pull of their prior immigration policy is undermining, but nevertheless remains.
But if we’re going to keep up this pressure on immigration, and create the conditions for immigration restrictionist parties to win elections and pro-remigration parties to get people elected into parliament, we need our activists to stay out of jail and our pro-remigration parties protected from being banned as “hate groups” before they even contest an election.
And the only way we’re going to get this is by bringing the issue of free speech to the forefront of the right’s political focus alongside immigration.
Immigration is the issue of our time, stopping and reversing White replacement is existential for Australian patriots who want to keep having a country. But free speech is just as existential, for without it we lose the ability to drive politics where it needs to go in order to stop and reverse White replacement.
If our activism wasn’t effective, they wouldn’t feel the need to censor us, jail us or ban us.
So just like we need to mainstream and normalise the concept of “remigration” to the Australian people, we also need to mainstream and normalise the concept of a “free speech referendum”. British patriots were able to push the idea of a Brexit referendum from the fringe to the mainstream through focused advocacy, and eventually they won out. We must do the same with free speech.
But to get such a referendum, we need to convince right-wing parties that they need to agree to holding one if they want our votes. One Nation already have this as a policy on their website, but their elected representatives never talk about it. We need to change this, and change it fast. And bodies in the street is a great way to do this, as last year’s marches proved.
Before that march Pauline was banging on about climate change and boomer-posting about bringing back plastic shopping bags to supermarkets. Only after that march did she lock back in on immigration and ride the political wave we created.
If One Nation prioritised free speech, and made it a condition of any potential future coalition with the Liberals to form government, it would probably be the single best thing we could realistically hope to get out of such a government. They would otherwise more than likely cuck out on immigration, but at least we’d get the freedom to form and promote new political parties which could stop and reverse White replacement.
This isn’t going to happen unless One Nation feel the pressure from their support base on this issue though. Pretty much every One Nation voter supports free speech, but support isn’t enough, they need to hold it as a top priority and vote based upon it for political parties to have an incentive to care about it.
Also, the White Australia Party’s High Court challenge to the prohibited hate group legislation will be heard 10 days from now. A big rally tomorrow will demonstrate to the court that there is significant public opposition to the laws, which will help demonstrate infringement of the public interest in the case. It will also help bring much needed publicity to how important this case is and push back against the mainstream media lies that these laws simply ban “nazis” – they don’t, they give the government the power to ban basically anyone they want.
There is also the matter of the United States’ new National Security Strategy, which outlines a clear intent to promote the restoration of free speech alongside immigration restriction in their Western allies in order to preserve their “civilisational identity”. This is logical strategy, as non-White migrants and the leftist parties they predominantly vote for are significantly more anti-American than Whites (right-wing Whites especially) are, potentially compromising our alliances.
March For Australia national organiser Hugo Lennon brought attention to this in his brilliant recent speech at the US Embassy on the subject.
This is significant, because big free speech rallies across Australia will invite the Trump administration and right-wing American elites to funnel more support into pro-free speech forces on the Australian right, put diplomatic pressure on the government to ease up on its multicultural police state tyranny, and maybe even issue statements that could influence the High Court in the White Australia Party’s favour.
Regardless of what happens in the High Court, the Australian right must learn to prioritise free speech. Censorship, hate speech laws and political policing have grown into an overbearing force that hampers our ability to advance our political agenda. And it’s only going to get worse from here without focused resistance.
Free speech is already popular, most people already support it, including basically everyone on the right. The government knows it takes reputational hits every time it impedes it. We need to use this moral superiority to our advantage and force the issue while we still can. Media and political attacks against free speech protesters will be massive own goals for all the fools in the establishment who inevitably react to tomorrow’s protests. Force them to kick them.
If, however, we can’t get a decent turn out tomorrow, all that will do is legitimise the state’s repression of patriotic dissent. Do not let that happen. Be there. This is one of those rare times where being there actually matters.
