Residents of a quiet western Sydney suburb are furious over rampant illegal dumping, which they say was never a problem before mass immigration from the third world.
A frustrated local shared photos of piles of illegally dumped rubbish by the sides of Sixth Avenue and Lippizan Road in Austral last week, and said “this wasn’t the Australian way of life”.
“Do we need basic lessons of how to keep the community clean, or do we need rangers and cameras everywhere?” he asked.
He then hit back at suggestions the problem was caused by the tip being too expensive and privately owned “instead of in the good old days when it was free”.
“No, this is about a basic human sense for keeping the place and the environment where you live clean, respecting the rules of society. Half of this is a construction waste and basic garbage from houses where the council is giving you free pick up,” he said.
Almost 2,000 people commented on the images in a local community group, and while most blamed disrespectful immigrants, some pointing the finger at the council.
“Australia has never been treated as poorly as it is now or looked so much like a third world country most places you go now. Year after year with such insane amounts of immigration Australia will be less Australian in every way,” wrote one upset Aussie.
“Albo’s imports arrive, stay for a few months, then realise Australia is not for them, dump their rubbish where convenient considering it someone else’s problem, then return home to their third world country where it’s culturally acceptable to do this,” said another.
“Disgusting. We didn’t accept this back in the day. Now people say, ‘what can we do?’. Honestly, the apathy is appalling,” a third wrote.
“I blame councils, should make tips free, we pay enough in rates and get nothing,” one woman said.
“I was criticised for raising concerns about whether Austral’s infrastructure can cope with major new developments like a mosque. Yet if Council can’t even keep our streets clean, how can anyone seriously believe it’s ready to take on even more pressure?” wrote Councillor Peter Ristevski.
Many others simply wrote variations on the phrase “import the third world, become the third world”.
