Elderly dogwalkers allegedly stabbed by stranger in Adelaide

Police officer confronts a man sitting on the curb outside a store as another officer watches nearby.

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing two strangers while they were walking their dogs in suburban Adelaide and punching an elderly good Samaritan.

The alleged attacker, who appeared to be of aboriginal or African appearance, was arrested at a nearby service station in Salisbury Downs on Friday morning after South Australia Police officers drew their firearms and deployed a Taser.

The 29-year-old was charged with attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated assault causing harm, aggravated assault, and affray, and was refused police bail to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

A makeshift weapon allegedly used during the incident was seized by police, who said a man and woman, both 63, were treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Footage from 9News shows the large man approaching the couple before allegedly stabbing them both, while another man believed to be the attacker’s carer watches on.

Another man, 81, then intervened and the alleged attacker walked away, only to return and allegedly punch the good Samaritan.

Police are now seeking information from anyone who saw the armed man or who may have dashcam footage from the area.
