A Muslim knifeman who stabbed three women in Paris said Allah commanded him to do it – but French authorities have declared his motives were “unknown”.
Terrifying footage showed the long-haired man brandishing two kitchen knives while carrying out his attack near Porte de Clichy on Monday.
Three woman aged 19, 24 and 36, one of them pregnant, were stabbed during the rampage, which ended when the attacker was tackled by bystanders and detained by an off-duty police officer.

While lying on the ground and being restrained by members of the public the knifeman said “it is Allah who commanded me”, Reuters reported.
But despite the perpetrator’s statement, which was caught on video, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters the motive for the attack was yet to be determined, and warned the public against jumping to conclusions.
“We must obviously remain very cautious regarding the motives behind this extremely violent act,” Mr Nunez said.
“I firmly condemn this act, and we are told that the individual is making incoherent statements.”
Mr Nunez also said police had been unable to verify the knifeman’s identity.
France’s national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday it was considering whether to open an investigation into the rampage, which came a day after an Islamic extremist drove into a homosexual parade in Berlin, killing one and injuring 29.
