Indian, 69, who allegedly sexually touched boy, 12, on walking path granted bail

An Indian man who allegedly sexually touched a 12-year-old boy on a walking track in the NSW town of Ballina has been granted bail.

Madan Mohan Singh, 69, faced Ballina Local Court on Thursday charged with intentionally sexually touching a child between the ages of 10 and 16, after being arrested in late February.

NSW Police allege the boy, 12, was approached by a stranger while walking along the Ferngrove Public Reserve path near the North Creek canal at about 7pm on February 11.

The boy ran away after allegedly being sexually touched, and reported the alleged incident to police.

Singh was then arrested two weeks later by detectives and officers from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad, Ballina News Daily reported.

The accused appeared in front of Magistrate Kathy Crittenden and did not enter a plea, but was granted conditional bail to appear in the same court again on March 19.
