Queensland MP urges Aussies to join anti-immigration ‘March for Australia’ rallies

Queensland MP Bob Katter has thrown his support behind “March for Australia” anti-immigration rallies planned for later this month with two fiery social media videos.

The Katter’s Australia Party founder took aim at both major parties for “opening the floodgates for immigration” and urging Aussies to join the marches planned for August 31 in cities around the country.

In the first two-minute clip Mr Katter told attendees to “throw eggs” at any members of major parties they see, and declared that “we are fighting for our country to be preserved and not drowned in a flood of immigration”.

“If there is a member of the mainstream parties there, throw eggs at them, please, throw something at them, they have no right to march – they have sold our country out,” he said.

“You’ve got two parties selling you out.”

He went on to point out that the majority of recent immigrants have settled in Sydney and Melbourne, putting pressure on the labour market while at the same time the manufacturing sector has been sent overseas.

“All of the factories are gone. The motor car industry is gone. The underwear industry is gone. There are no jobs there. So what are they doing there? How dare you bring these people to our country, and then have them be looked after by the public purse,” he said.

“You take money off every single Australian who is struggling to buy food for his family, and you bring these people in, and they go on the dole because there is no work for them – there’s no work for anyone in Sydney and Melbourne except from the public purse.

“So it’s war time now. We are fighting for our country, and our country to be preserved and not to be drowned in a flood of immigration.”

In an update to the caption of the video on social media Mr Katter wrote that he wanted the march to be for “all Australians”.

“I want to make it clear, I will have nothing to do with hate,” he said.

“Australians must unite, this is our lifestyle, our culture and our future.

“Our race of people, our country is drowning in a flood of migration,” he said in the second video on Wednesday.

Calls for a mass pro-Australia demonstrations began following flag burning and shutting down of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a pro-Palestine protest, with online flyers stating “it’s time to rise” and announcing rallies at 12pm on August 31 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.

Posts and videos about the plans then went viral on all social media platforms, and thousands of Aussies from around the country have vowed to attend with their Australian flags.

Organisers have since put up an official March for Australia website and released an update on their social media channels on Monday confirming specific locations would be announced on August 15, and stressing the marches would be non-violent and no donations would be collected.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese brought in about 1.5 million immigrants during his first three years in office, driving housing, rental and cost-of-living crises and pushing the foreign-born proportion of the population to the highest level since Federation.

Last month Labor announced it would increase the number of international students, while the Coalition’s new pro-multiculturalism immigration spokesman revealed the Opposition would abandon its pre-election migration cut promises and try to appeal to immigrant voters instead.
