Victorian schools are teaching five-year-olds about ‘transgenderism’

Victoria has amended its school curriculum to include left-wing extremist gender ideology and teach children as young as five that their body parts may not match their gender.

The changes are part of the state’s Respectful Relationships syllabus, and were quietly introduced in August last year, with materials including a case study used to teach kids that a boy named “Stacey” belongs on a girls’ sports team because he is “transgender”, The Australian reported.

The curriculum also introduces the unscientific notion of “transgenderism” to five- and six-year-old kids, and contains content that states that some people feel they “did not get a good match for their body parts” and that they “do not want to be called a boy or a girl, but rather something that is right for them”.

The Respectful Relationships program was initiated by the Victorian government in 2015 in response to a royal commission into family violence and introduced into the curriculum the following year.

The government announced at the time that the program sought to reduce domestic violence by noting that “Gender inequality is one of the underlying causes of family violence” and that the curriculum needs to “address discrimination and teach equality” in order to help reduce it.

The program also aimed to help students “understand the world around them” and why the “diversity of our world is so important”.

But the recent changes have been met with a furious backlash from everyday Australians, with popular political commentator Mickamious noting “gender identity was being taught to five-year-olds while 16-year-olds were about be be banned from social media, and saying: “You can’t make this shit up.”

De-transitioner Mel Jefferies, also weighed in, saying that the changes made by the government were “going to confuse and disconnect more youth from material reality”.

“The winners of this are big pharma and big gov,” she wrote.

The amendments have also drawn the ire of experts, with a spokeswoman for the Parents of Adolescents with Gender Distress telling The Australian that the Victorian government’s prevailing “affirmation policy” – in which children are “affirmed” in the gender they choose and not their underlying biological one –  was concerning as adolescents were now being put on a path towards permanent medical harm via a “school-to-clinic pipeline”.

“When a child presents, particularly at school, with gender distress, gender confusion, the default position of the Education Department, in our experience, seems to be that the child must be affirmed, more often than not without parental consent,” she said.

“We have multiple examples of young people who have been socially transitioned at school without their parents’ knowledge or consent, and as soon as they turn 18 they’ve gone to see an affirming GP or clinician and they’ve been handed a script for hormones, often based on the fact that they’ve been socially transitioned for a couple of years.”

Much of the public anger has been directly aimed at Victoria’s Labor Premier Jacinta Allan, who hit in an emotional outburst on Thursday morning in an attempt to defend her government’s policies.

“It’s disgraceful, nonsense. Like, seriously, this sort of ongoing attack on a program that is making a difference in kids’ lives, just should be stopped,” she said.

“It should be stopped. It’s disgraceful reporting. It’s hurtful. When you consider the incidents, that transgender kids are 15 times more likely to kill themselves, we should be supporting them.

“We should be supporting them across our schools, across our society, across our community. The Australian needs to stop this ongoing campaign, because it’s hurtful and harmful.”

But former Australian Mother of the Year Kirralie Smith pointed out that Ms Allan was “not speaking truth” herself with her claims and harm and suicide.

“[Ms Allan] fails to acknowledge the fact the suicide rate increases after children go on experimental and harmful puberty blockers and cross sex hormones,” Ms Smith said.

“Once people realise no mask, drug or surgery can change their sex they are more depressed because they have become life-long medical consumers with serious health issues.

“Their underlying issues have not been resolved and they are left with early menopause, sterility, zero sexual function, incontinence and other terrible and serious health issues. Lying and deception is cruel and leads to irreversible harm!”

In relation to the broader issue of gender ideology and its imposition on children, prominent child psychiatrist Jillian Spencer said she believed it was “wrong to introduce (the notion of being transgender) early” as “it just introduces confusion”.

Another psychiatrist, Dr Andrew Amos, said there was “no evidence that gender affirming care, as practised in Victoria and around Australia, reduces the risk of suicide in children and adolescents” as shown by multiple international reviews.

“There is reason to believe it may increase the risk, particularly by reducing the likelihood of diagnosing coexisting mental illnesses in children with gender dysphoria,” Dr Amos said.

Institute of Public Affairs representative Bella d’Abrera told Sky News Australia that parents in Victoria “should be very concerned”as the state “government both supports and funds the indoctrination of children with fringe theories about sex and gender, years before it is appropriate”.

“Jacinta Allan will say or do anything to avoid having to be honest and upfront about the radical theories being pushed on Victorian children at school,” she said.

“Unfortunately… from childcare to secondary school, there is not a level of our education system that has not been hijacked by activists to push their radical social agenda on children.”

The current changes to the curriculum are not the first such reforms by Victoria’s Labor government involving radical gender ideology, with the current  administration also overseeing the Safe Schools program – which “helps schools foster a safe environment that is supportive and inclusive of LGBTIQA+ students”  – and the Rainbow Libraries program.

Rainbow Libraries encourages five-year-olds to state their pronouns and was launched by the state’s first “openly lesbian” Member of Parliament, Harriet Shing, as a direct response to increasing anger among ordinary Australians at the growing presence of drag queens and extremist gender ideology at their libraries.
