A Lebanese barber charged over the horrific alleged six-hour gang rape of a teenage girl in southwest Sydney has pleaded not guilty in court and remains out on bail.
Adam Abdul-Hamid, 19, is not accused of taking part in the alleged sexual assault of the 17-year-old girl in Liverpool in December last year alongside three other teenage males, but police allege he failed to intervene as the only adult and sent himself a text message from the alleged victim’s phone.
He appeared in Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault in company, and the prosecution withdrew three more counts of the same charge, the Australian Associated Press reported.
He also refused to consent to a long-term apprehended violence order preventing him from locating or finding the alleged victim, but an interim order will remain in place under his next court date.
Abdul-Hamid, who is from a Lebanese Muslim immigrant family and grew up in social housing, will appear in court again in February for an arraignment ahead of a trial set to take place in late 2026 or early 2027.

At the 19-year-old’s NSW Supreme Court bail hearing in September Justice Hament Dhanji bailed him to home detention, except to travel to work or meet his lawyers, after determining he would not pose an unacceptable risk to the community.
According to a police fact sheet presented to the court Abdul-Hamid was allegedly asked during the alleged gang-rape βdo you want to have a turn?β to which he allegedly replied, βno, Iβm alrightβ.
Three other males aged, 14, 16, and 18, have also been charged but cannot be legally identified since they were under 18 at the time of the alleged gang-rape.
NSW Police allege a 17-year-old girl was approached by a male stranger, 16, who engaged her in conversation and followed her to her car at Liverpool Westfield Shopping Centre at about 5.30pm on December 15 last year.
When she reluctantly let the teenager inside he allegedly sexually assaulted her, and said he would get out if she drove him to Wheat Park in Sadlier, but when she arrived two more males got into the car and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
A fourth male then arrived in another car, and police allege the girl was then driven around in her own vehicle and sexually assaulted, at times by multiple males at once, while they allegedly filmed. Police allege a hair brush was used in some of the assaults.
She was left alone in her car at 11.30pm, contacted a friend and reported the alleged attack to police.
