An elderly doctor has allegedly been stabbed in the neck by a Chinese patient at his clinic in Sydney’s CBD.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to the medical practice on Pitt St at about 7pm on Friday where they found the 85-year-old general practitioner suffering an alleged stab wound.
His patient, Wen Zhang, 57, was arrested at the scene before being taken to hospital for assessment, and on Saturday was charged with “wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm”.
Police will allege Zhang was being treated by the doctor when he stabbed him.
Photos from the scene show Zhang being taken into custody, and a knife with a rag wrapped around the handle.
Zhang was refused bail in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday, and will appear before Downing Centre Local Court on November 27.
