African gunman and five others arrested over broad daylight fight in Melbourne

A group of Africans have been arrested after shots were fired during a terrifying broad daylight brawl in Melbourne.

Police were called to Park Street in St Kilda at about 11am on Sunday after reports of a fight, and arrested four males and two females who were taken into custody to be interviewed.

Footage of the incident shows the group shouting and fighting in the street while a man in a hoodie brandished a gun, and one local said he saw a man getting attacked outside his home.

“The first thing I saw was a guy getting his head stomped into the pavement, just outside my house,” told the Herald Sun.

“Then another guy pulled out a gun and a shot was fired. It was like a black revolver with a long stem.

“They seemed to be in their late teens or early twenties, there was lots of yelling, commotion, people running around everywhere.”

No one was injured during the brawl and the shot was fired into the air, Nine News reported.

The street was put in lockdown and police are continuing to collect evidence.

“No person with gunshot injuries has been located at this stage as police continue to search the area,” police said in a statement.

“Three females, aged 24, 24 and 26 and three males aged 22, 24 and 22, were arrested nearby and will be interviewed.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage.”

The same local resident said he was fed up with gang crime in the area, describing it as “scary” and saying a machete had been thrown under his car.
