African teen allegedly punches woman unconscious during rap concert in Perth

A teenager has been charged after allegedly attacking two other concertgoers at a show by UK rapper Central Cee in Perth.

Video posted on social media shows an African male throwing wild punches in the crowd at the RAC Arena at about 9.40pm on Wednesday night, causing fans nearby to scream in horror.

Western Australia Police said a 17-year-old from Gosnells was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, disorderly behaviour in a public place and obstructing public officers.

Police will allege the teenager assaulted a man, 25, and a woman, 29, leaving them with bruising to the head and face, and allege he then resisted arrest and verbally abused responding officers.

Witness Campbell Darby told Perth Now the alleged attack unfolded right next to him and left the woman unconscious.

“They were right next to me, and I had to move out of the way, but the girl was knocked out, fully unconscious,” he said.

“I had to help the people next to me get out of the way so they didn’t get hit.”

Another witness, Don Salapang, 21, said her and her friends were shaken up by the alleged attack.

“I wouldn’t say the fight completely ruined the experience, but it definitely brought down the mood significantly for everyone and some of us were torn, focusing on the aftermath of the fight and the actual concert,” she said.

London-born drill rapper Central Cee is of English, Chinese and Guyanese descent and glorifies gangs, violence, drugs and crime in his songs.
