An African man and two other teenagers have been charged over a fatal alleged stabbing in the quiet southern Perth suburb of Aubin Grove on Christmas Eve.
Bongani Nie Khumalo, 18, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday charged with murder, deprivation of liberty and aggravated armed robbery, and was refused bail.
He was arrested along with a 17-year-old male on Saturday who is charged with the same offences, while another 18-year-old who was arrested on Christmas is also charged with murder and has already faced court where he was also remanded in custody. All three accused are from Byford.
Khumalo will face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on January 21, 2026, and the other 18-year-old will face the same court on January 7, The West Australian reported.
The 19-year-old victim died in hospital after being found with stab wounds at Talisker Gate at about 10.40pm on December 24, 9News reported, and police allege he was fighting with the three other teenagers both inside and outside a car before being fatally stabbed..
A local resident told ABC News the suburb was usually quiet and a “nice little pocket of heaven”.
He said he heard knocking and thudding sounds on the night of the alleged stabbing and looked out the window to see police cars and detectives, and later found out someone had died.
“It was pretty scary. Happened 30 metres away from the room where I’ve got my little eight-week-old baby,” he said.
Police said they are not searching for any other suspects, and believe the alleged stabbing was an isolated incident.
