Pauline Hanson slammed for selling Australian flags when every Aussie can get one free

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has been criticised for selling Australian flags for $25 even though they are available free at senators and MPs’ offices.

The Queensland senator shared a link to her online shop in posts on her social media accounts on Wednesday amid growing interest in anti-immigration March for Australia protests planned for cities around the country on August 31.

“When you fly the Australian flag, you show pride in our country and our way of life. You show you stand with the values that make Australia great. That’s why we make sure you can get one through our One Nation shop,” Ms Hanson wrote.

“Whether it’s for your home, your business, or to take to rallies and events, wave it with pride.”

But many of her followers pointed out that every Australian can get a flag for free from their local member’s office, either by showing up in person or by contacting them to request one.

“You are supposed to supply them for free as a senator. Why are you trying to get shekels for something that’s free?” asked one X user.

“I hope she is not selling the ones the taxpayer is funding,” someone else replied.

“I thought politicians were issued with them to give out free,” said another person on Facebook, with dozens of others leaving similar comments, including one who remarked “You’d think you would know that”.

Ms Hanson’s posts came after fellow Queensland politician Bob Katter declared his support for the August 31 rallies, and telling his followers to “throw eggs” at any “mainstream party” politician they see at the events for “opening the floodgates to immigration”.

The One Nation leader also came under fire during the federal election for switching her preferences at the last minute to favour then-Opposition leader Peter Dutton, and was labelled a “sell-out” for saying she supported him and his policies mid-campaign.
