Miss Tasmania 2026 allows man pretending to be a woman to compete

The Miss Tasmania 2026 beauty pageant has allowed a “transgender” contestant – a man who claims to be a woman – sparking disbelief from everyday Australians.

Organisers Mini Miss Pageants made a post on Facebook announcing Lucy Violet Faulkner as a contestant in this year’s event, but has since deleted it after it generated criticism online.

Mr Faulkner, who calls himself a “model and pageant star” and has changed his Victorian birth certificate to state “sex: female” thanks to far-left legal changes that came into effect in 2020, also competed in last year’s pageant and won two prizes.

The announcement drew attention on free speech platform X after being shared by Women Speak Tasmania, who shared a screenshot of the post captioned: “What are your thoughts?”

“Tasmania did not get the memo trans is over,” wrote lawyer and former Liberal candidate Katherine Deves.

“Miss Transmania Contestant 2026,” wrote popular commentator R3tards Down Under.

“The world is becoming a joke,” wrote another X user.

“Personally, I hope he wins (he was runner-up last year). Nothing would encapsulate the decline of values, decency and common sense in Tasmania under the ‘leadership’ of weak, woke spineless Liberals for the last decade,” said a fourth Aussie.

On his Instagram account Mr Faulkner calls himself “transgender, autistic and proud” and shared photos from the 2025 pageant where he said “I was not expecting to be crowned second runner-up”, and “I was so excited to be awarded as a co-Ultimate Rising Star”.

He also posted a photo of his two award ribbons on top of a “pride flag”

“Success, the only way to silence the haters. I can sleep in lots of pride tonight. Not just pride for myself but for the whole Trans (sic) Community,” he wrote.
