Australian woman fined $100,000 for posts about ‘transgender’ soccer players

An Australian women’s rights campaigner has been ordered to pay $95,000 in fines and make an apology after a court ruled she vilified two biological male soccer players who claim to be “transgender” females.

Kirralie Smith was taken to court by Riley Dennis and Stephanie Blanch over a series of social media posts about males in women’s sport, and in August NSW Local Court Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund found she unlawfully vilified both men by calling them men.

In her judgments, which run to a combined 111 pages, Ms Freund refers to both Dennis and Blanch as women while simultaneously confirming that both are biological males, and that Blanch has had “gender-affirming surgery”.

Ms Smith, who runs advocacy group Binary Australia, revealed the penalties on X on Friday and said she intended to appeal.

“My penalty for being guilty of ‘unlawful vilification’ has been handed down. In summary $95,000 in fines which will double if I don’t pay in 28 days. The orders also state I need to issue a public apology. I will be appealing the decision,” she wrote.

“It is disappointing that the word ‘woman’ has been redefined to include males and that the words ‘violence’ and ‘vilification’ have been applied to speaking the truth about information in the public domain. Australians should be very concerned about their freedoms.

She said that as a campaigner she should have the right to advocate for public policy in relation to males being allowed to participate in female sport without being penalised, and that the decision set a dangerous precedent.

“The law might state men can be women, but it defies the laws of nature and cannot be sustained,” she wrote.

“Nothing will steal my joy in knowing that I am a woman and no male ever will be. I am proud to stand for truth and reality.”

She is raising funds for her appeal on her Binary Australia website.

The penalties comes amid controversy about male paedophiles and other criminals getting placed in women’s jails in Australia by claiming to be “transgender”, and after a male far-left extremist was spared jail for a bomb attack in Melbourne in part due to his “gender status”.
