Knife-wielding Africans attack teens in Melbourne Halloween horror

A teenage boy has been slashed with a knife by a group of hooded thugs while children trick-or-treated nearby in Melbourne on Halloween.

CCTV footage shows the pair being chased down a street in Wyndham Vale by a group of five males, one armed with a kitchen knife and at least three of African appearance, before being attacked in front of horrified residents at about 6.15pm on Friday.

Police were called to the scene where they found an injured 14-year-old, but were unable to track down his attackers. They also said the teenagers were known to each other.

One resident told 7News she was now moving out of the suburb, saying: “It’s disgusting, it’s always happening and there’s just no concern or care for anyone. You want to feel safe in your community and it’s just not like that now.”

Another local said crime in the area was “spiralling out of control” and that residents needed protection.

A young girl who witnessed the violence told 9News: “It was really scary, we were out trick or treating and there was lots of helicopters.

“I called my dad and I said ‘there’s lots of police in front of our house’.”

No arrests have been made.

The attack is the latest in a series of attacks allegedly involving Africans in the crime-ravaged suburb, where a teenage boy was chased down and stabbed in May, a young African man was allegedly fatally stabbed in February, and a Sudanese man was allegedly hacked to death by 12 men with machetes in January.
