AFL legend Gary Ablett senior has unleashed at Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for bringing in a record number of immigrants while Aussies can’t afford homes.
The sporting icon, once dubbed “God” by adoring fans, released a 37-minute YouTube video on Friday night titled “Treason, corruption and deception within the Australian Parliament” where he took aim at the political establishment.
Ablett, 64, said Australia should be the “Saudi Arabia of the southern hemisphere” due to its mineral wealth but was instead a trillion dollars in debt with the “cost of living at an all-time high”.
“Many Australians can’t afford homes, can’t afford to buy, can’t afford to rent. We should be one of the richest countries in the world, totally self-dependent, and yet here we are broke,” he said.
“Mr Albanese comes across as a pathological liar. He does not have a problem compromising with the truth whenever it suits him. And if he continues to be leading this country … we’ll soon be communist because we have Mr Albanese, and his government are a social communist government. We all know that.
“And we also know just the the way our country is being run at the moment is just a sham, and what Mr Albanese will do to hang on to power, including mass immigration of certain peoples, who I believe are playing a significant role in destabilising and destroying this country from within.”
Mr Ablett’s comments come after a poll released earlier this month showed 79% of Australians want net overseas migration cut to 100,000 per year or less, 60% believe there are “too many migrants” in Australia, and 54% said they no longer recognise the country they grew up in.
Another 48% agreed that the Albanese government’s immigration policy was designed to bring in immigrants that will keep Labor in power.
Since Mr Albanese became Prime Minister in May 2022 his government has allowed in about 2.5 million immigrants for a net overseas migration intake of almost 1.5 million.
Indians have been the largest arrivals group, followed by Chinese, and top pollster Kos Samaras revealed last year that 85% of voters of Indian origin voted for Labor in the last federal election.
