A British war veteran has had his Australian visa cancelled by the immigration minister for associating with right-wing activist group the National Socialist Network.
Ryan Turner, who was living in Western Australia on a bridging visa while applying for a partner visa and permanent residency, was raided by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers on Tuesday, and taken in handcuffs to Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre east of Perth for deportation.
Noticer News understands Mr Turner had his visa cancelled for “failing the character test” due to his links to the NSN, the activist branch of political organisation White Australia, despite only acting as a boxing coach and not participating in any of the group’s demonstrations or committing any criminal offences.
In November immigration minister Tony Burke cancelled the visa of a South African member of the NSN, Matthew Gruter, for taking part in a protest against Jewish lobby influence outside NSW Parliament. Mr Gruter was raided by the ABF at 4am and deported weeks later with his wife and newborn child.
Mr Burke last month also cancelled the visas of a Ukrainian NSN member, and of a British father with no links to the NSN or White Australia after he was charged over alleged X posts and swords with “swastika symbology” before his case had been heard in court.
White Australia’s Hagen Palme said he was saddened by the deportation of Mr Turner, and described him as a good friend.
“We all see the hypocrisy and madness that this country is experiencing. A country where rapists and murderers are spared deportation, whilst hard working, honourable and law abiding White men are instantly booted from our nation,” he said.
“Ryan is not being deported in response for partaking in any activism like with Mathew Gruter. He is not being deported for breaking any laws. He is essentially being deported on the grounds of ‘character’ because he does boxing on the weekend with other White men. This is the insanity our country is enjoying.
“Tony Burke and the traitors within our Government seem to think the most dangerous threat to our nation and to “social cohesion” is White men who love their race, love this country and want to fight to protect and restore its founding vision.”
At least 27 serious foreign criminals, including paedophiles, rapists and a child killer, have been allowed to stay in Australia since Mr Gruter’s visa was cancelled.
They include a Fijian who was convicted of the “stealthing” rape of a man he met on homosexual dating app Grindr, but was deemed not to have failed the character test and given a protection visa.
In late December Mr Burke said he was writing new legislation that would allow him to proscribe the NSN and other organisations as a “hate group”, even though White Australia is in the process of registering as a political party with the Australian Electoral Commission.
Late last year Mr Burke’s Department of Home Affairs launched a new support service for illegal immigrants living on expired visas that allows them to find pathways to stay in Australia without being reported to the ABF.
According to the most recent Home Affairs data, as of November 30 last year there were 102,660 rejected asylum seekers living in Australia who are yet to be deported, and another 26,018 people awaiting refugee status determinations.
But there were just 1,011 people in immigration detention facilities, 91.5% of whom had a criminal history, with another 86 approved to live in the community while awaiting deportation.
