Hunt for ‘tanned’ thug who attacked five strangers in Brisbane

Police are looking for a man who assaulted five strangers in Brisbane in a series of sickening unprovoked attacks, leaving one of his victims unconscious.

Queensland Police on Friday made an appeal for public assistance identifying a man with a “tanned complexion” they believe may be able to assist with their investigations.

The suspect first approached a 32-year-old man near the intersection of Melbourne Street and Hope Street in South Brisbane on August 10 and punched him, knocking him out, police said.

Then at about 2.30pm on September 13 police allege the same man physically assaulted two 28-year-old men, a 25-year-old man and a 65-year-old man in four separate unprovoked incidents at a Dutton Park train station, and fled on foot.

The 28-year-old took himself to hospital for medical treatment, and police were unable to find the attacker despite conducting a search of the area.

Police have now released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with investigators.

“The man is described as having a tanned complexion with a solid build, 180 to 190cm tall, a small patch style beard on his chin and moustache, black hair styled into a short mullet style haircut,” police said.

“He was wearing a dark blue shoulder strap bag during the incidents.”
