Americans have responded with sadness and anger at the decline of their country after seeing footage of a baseball game in Boston from the 1950s.
The official X account of Fenway Park shared the video, titled “Red Sox Opening Footage from ’50s”, on Friday, and the 49-second clip showed crowds of well-dressed White people pouring into the stadium and watching the game in the then-95% White city.
The video also included footage of Boston’s skyline and monuments, and has been viewed 3.1 million times. Only 176 comments were allowed before they were turned off, but many of those that remain have thousands of likes and reposts.

Most of the popular comments lamented the fact that 2026 Boston looks nothing like the city did in bygone decades, and many blamed leftist initiatives such as diversity and mass immigration, with one simply writing: “I would give anything to have this back.”
“America of the past is unrecognisable when compared to today. Sad,” read the most popular comment.
“Dear God, this is heartbreaking. What have we done to our civilisation since the 1960s cultural revolution?” wrote another X user.
“It’s wild how you can post a video from 60 years ago in Boston and it immediately looks like (what Democrats call) “White supremacist” propaganda,” remarked another.
“Um, where’s the diversity? Where’s all the Somalians and transgenders that are the fabric of “our democracy”? This is racist and transphobic,” joked a fourth X user.
One wrote “Thanks Fenway park, you have radicalised me beyond what I thought possible”, and another said: “What has been done to our great and beautiful country is so criminal it’s beyond words.”

Others criticised the decision to turn off comments, and predicted the sharing of archived footage would soon be considered “racist”.
“They shut down the comments. Eventually, there will be an effort to destroy all footage of pre-Diversity™ America. What was… was better. And seeing what’s been taken – what’s been purposely destroyed – is beyond radicalising,” wrote commentator Daniel Concannon.
“They literally had to turn off replies to this because footage of a great American city from 50 years ago is too radicalising. This is where we are. Willfully destroyed, in every sense,” said writer Logan Hall.
Boston’s leftist Asian Mayor Michelle Wu, who has made the city a “sanctuary” for illegal immigrants and excluded White councillors from events, was then booed at the same venue for this year’s opening day.
At the time of the 1950 Census 94.7% of Boston’s population was White, but by 2024 only 44.1% of the population was non-Hispanic White, according to the US Census Bureau estimates.
