An Australian software developer has released a video game which bills itself as an alternate-history version of iconic early 90s first-person shooter Wolfenstein 3D.
The classic game was released in 1992 by American developers id Software, and makes the player an Allied spy during World War 2 tasked with escaping from captivity, with the ultimate goal of killing Adolf Hitler. Later titles in the series established the main character as being of Polish Jewish descent.
In the new game by Pelican Blue Software, Bolsheviktion 3D, the player assumes the role of a nameless White diplomat sent into Bolshevik Russia in 1918 to negotiate with the new regime, shortly after the arrest of the Tsar and his family.
Christien J. Mutton, lead programmer at Pelican Blue Software, said his team aims to push back against leftism in popular culture and hopes to revive the local video game industry with upcoming custom titles “showcasing Australia’s rich culture and history”.
“I’ve had people reach out to me and say how refreshing it is to have the principal villains of the game be of a left-wing totalitarian state rather than ‘muh Nazis’,” Mr Mutton said.
“Both Australia’s pop-culture output and the video game scene in general are in dire need of some fresh ideas, and we aim to fill that void.
“Being that video games are a core component of Zoomer and Alpha identity, to cede that vital avenue of entertainment to what is essentially the radical left wing utilising hordes of temp contracting diversity hires is madness.”
Mr Mutton said Pelican Blue Software had more games on the way, which like Bolsheviktion 3D will be custom-written without utilising popular game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.
“We aim to be a fully Australian nationalist games development company. A smaller team of dedicated, ideologically like-minded people can achieve great things in this current political landscape,” he said.
The Bolsheviktion 3D gameplay begins with the player being arrested on suspicion of being a spy. The player is thrown into prison, and after a nightmare which contains a premonition of the murder of the Russian royal family, decides to try and save them upon awakening.
The game has the player blasting his way through Russia in an effort to locate and save the Tsar, with the final boss of the game being Yakov Yurovsky inside the basement of Ipatiev House.
Yurovsky was a Bolshevik commander who led the execution squad that brutally killed the entire Romanov family, including the Tsar’s wife, young daughters, teenage son and several close family friends.
The game is available for purchase on Steam and at its official website.
