Anthony Albanese mocked for ‘women in politics’ photo: ‘What is a woman?’

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been mocked for a post celebrating “more women in politics”, with many Aussies highlighting his government’s failure to protect women from gender-deluded males.

Mr Albanese shared a photo of himself with a group of female Labor MPs and visitors in Canberra on Tuesday, saying it was “inspiring to see the next generation of female leaders visit Parliament House”.

“More women in politics is a win for Australia. Because governments are better when they reflect modern Australia. It’s why I’m so proud our Labor caucus has majority women – more than it ever has before,” he wrote.

But the post attracted thousands of critical comments on X and Facebook, with many simply asking the Prime Minister to define the word “woman” amid ongoing public anger about men claiming to be “transgender” playing women’s sport and using female bathrooms, change rooms and prisons.

Founder of women’s social media app Giggle, Sall Grover, who has been dragged through the courts by a male who claims to be female, responded by sharing a photo of a news article titled “Transgender woman wins groundbreaking ‘what is a woman’ case”.

“All this post proves is you know what a woman is. So, why are you making private citizens have to go to court to establish it in law? You, as leader of the country, could fix it in a week. But you have done nothing. Until you do, we don’t accept your platitudes,” she wrote.

“Please explain Alboshevik, what makes these people ‘women’? I’ll wait,” wrote prominent lawyer and former Liberal party candidate Katherine Deves.

“You don’t even know what a woman is mate. You have no interest in protecting or promoting women. You can’t be for women if you can’t define women in law,” wrote women’s rights campaigner Kirralie Smith, who has also been sued for calling male soccer players on women’s teams men.

Others objected to Mr Albanese’s obsessed with diversity, and some questioned whether the Labor caucus’s female majority was the reason for Australia’s economic woes.

“I guess everything is going to be better now. Because diversity. Another problem solved,” joked former Liberal Party powerbroker Matthew Camenzuli.

“Australia is in such a bad shape, I suspect this might be one of the driving factors,” wrote another X user.

“So gender now determines good governance? I guess competence, accountability and economic literacy are old-fashioned,” said another commenter.

“Playing another game of spot the Aussie I see,” wrote a Facebook user, echoing several other popular comments.

“We already have the greatest female politician in Parliament. Her name is Pauline,” read the most popular response.
