Five males aged 16 to 21 have been arrested and charged over a savage alleged home invasion in Melbourne where a 60-year-old man was allegedly shot, stabbed and repeatedly bashed with a hammer.
Victoria Police released footage of two of the males being arrested, both of African appearance, and another 17-year-old was arrested in Bundaberg, Queensland, at 7am on Wednesday, and is also expected to be charged after being extradited to Victoria tomorrow.
The alleged home invasion, which took place in Gladstone Park at 1.25am on July 24, sparked outrage after footage obtained by independent news outlet Outlaw Media showed the savage alleged attack unfold.
The CCTV video showed homeowner Kemal Akbulut allegedly being repeatedly stabbed, brutally bashed with a hammer and shot in the arm. Akbulut was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and his 57-year-old cousin was allegedly threatened but not physically hurt.
