A homosexual nightspot in Adelaide has made a public appeal to find a mystery patron who walked out with their statue of Pinocchio.
Marys Poppin, which is named after the iconic Disney movie and is “queer owned and operated”, shared CCTV footage of the alleged theft on Instagram on Friday along with a mock-up “missing poster”.
“Pinocchio. Last seen on Sunday morning approximately 12.23am at Marys Poppin. Height: 1m. Age: 8 years old. Nose: long,” the poster reads.
It is unclear why the bar, which hosts drag queen events, had a life-sized statue of the children’s character inside.
“Okay fam, so last Saturday night, someone decided to steal our beloved Pinocchio. He’s been with us since we opened, 8 years ago! and we are NOT okay with this,” the bar wrote on Instagram.
“This is a call to EVERYONE to help us find him and bring him home, back to his beautiful little pink palace in the east end of Adelaide.
“To the person who took him… (suss the video) You’re BANNED FOR LIFE (or until you return him). We’re heartbroken and we’re sure Pinocchio is missing his family and home too.”
The CCTV footage shows a person dressed in dark clothing take the statue from on top of the bar and cover it before walking out.
The Instagram post attracted dozens of comments from patrons, many of a sexually explicit nature.
