A woke Australian journalist has been called out for accusing Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe of White supremacy for using the phrase “Anglo-Saxon countries”.

The anti-immigration British MP was interviewed by Spotlight reporter Liam Bartlett during Pauline Hanson’s tour of the UK earlier this month, and was asked why he thought the One Nation leader had been so successful over the past year.

“I think like a lot of Anglo-Saxon countries, she’s offering a common-sense solution, which I think we’ve lost sight in most of our countries, particularly here,” Mr Lowe responded.

“I notice you use that expression quite often, Anglo-Saxon, a lot of people could interpret that as almost, if you’ll pardon the expression, White supremacy,” the 7News journalist said.

“I don’t think it’s a case of White supremacy,” Mr Lowe began to say before Bartlett cut him off and said, “but in this day and age, as you agree, words are just so important, aren’t they? And when people hear someone talking about Anglo-Saxons all the time…”.

“We just say we don’t care anymore, we’ve had enough of all that nonsense, so people can say what they want, we don’t care,” Mr Lowe replied.

A clip of the segment sparked anger on X, and Mr Lowe then posted his own version on Friday addressing Bartlett’s accusation.

“Getting accused of ‘white supremacy’ for referring to ‘Anglo-Saxon’ countries. This endless nonsense is so very boring,” he wrote.

Former UK Independence Party leader turned Restore Britain National Security Spokesman Henry Bolton was among many others who weighed in on the clip.

“If black, Eskimo, Scandinavian, North American Indian, and so on, aren’t about ‘supremacy’ why should being Anglo-Saxon imply White supremacy?” he asked.

“The fact is that it doesn’t, except in the minds of those who seek to dominate, supress, eradicate or, at least, surrender the heritage, culture and identity of the British people and the English-speaking peoples.”

Restore Britain campaign director Charlie Downes said: “The Anglo-Saxon is the envy of the world. We have created the greatest civilisations the world has ever known. And our greatest years are ahead of us, not behind.”

“We are Anglo-Saxon countries and it is perfectly acceptable for us to refer to ourselves in this way,” wrote political commentator Carl Benjamin.

“Talking about ‘Anglo-Saxon’ Countries is now ‘White Supremacy’ apparently This insanity has to stop,” said popular Restore Britain supporter Basil the Great.

Ms Hanson and One Nation have also criticised Bartlett and his team over the Spotlight special, calling it a “stitch-up” and releasing an email showing the one-hour program was pitched as being about “uncontrolled immigration”, only to turn into a hit piece.
