A mother of a Perth teenager who was slashed by machete-wielding African thugs outside a house party has revealed police refused to help her bleeding son at the scene.
Horrific footage of the attack on Lucas Jeisman, 17, in the suburb of Mindarie on Good Friday showed several hooded thugs armed with long blades hacking and slashing him while others kicked and stomped on him as he lay on the ground.
Lucas was hospitalised for two days at Joondalup Health Campus, needed stitches for deep cuts to both legs, suffered facial bruising and scratches, and has now been diagnosed with PTSD.
But his “absolutely gutted” mother Leisa told The Karl Stefanovic Show that police refused to call an ambulance after he approached them at the scene despite being soaked with blood, and forced him and another injured friend to leave the area instead.
“He said to the officer, ‘I need an ambulance. My shoulder’s broken’, he’d been beaten, he was covered in blood, and the officer ignored him, he just ignored his pleas for help,” she said.
“‘Get the f*ck out of the street’ is what they said. Lucas started walking down the street when an officer got in his car, drove down the street, got out of his car, put Lucas’s hands behind his back, and slammed him into a fence and said, ‘We’ve told you. Get the f*ck out of the street’, and threw him.”
Leisa said she doubted Lucas’s account at first, thinking “kids can stretch it a bit”, but had spoken to neighbours who witnessed the whole thing and confirmed his account.
Then after she spoke out about what happened to her son on 7News, Leisa said a police inspector came to her house, accused Lucas of being “the aggressor”, and claimed an ambulance wasn’t called because there were “no signs of injury”.
She also revealed that all of the attackers were Sudanese except for one, and said police only charged the African teens after she put pressure on them.
“They were Sudanese, all Sudanese boys and there was one White boy, the White boy was arrested within days of this happening,” she said.
“I had to fight with the police every day, I was fighting with them every day to do something. Lucas knows these boys. He went to school with them. He knows their names. There’s a video of the attack. Why are you not making arrests?”
Leisa said four were eventually arrested and charged, but one had already been spared a conviction by a magistrate.
“I found out last week that he got no conviction. So he got away with what he did to my son. How does that work?” she asked.
Lucas has since been diagnosed with PTSD, and although his physical wounds had healed he is “not the same boy he was”, Leisa said.
