Update: Police have confirmed the attacker was a Sudanese in his 30s, while the victim, a man in his 40s, is in a serious condition in hospital with injuries to his face, neck and back.
An African man has been caught on camera trying to behead a White man with a knife in the middle of a street in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Sickening footage of the attack shows the black knifeman straddling his victim, stabbing him, and sawing at his head and neck with a blade on Kinnaird Avenue at about 10:30pm on Monday.

The knifeman can be heard yelling in a foreign language, while horrified bystanders shout “get off him you f**king rat”.
Another man can be heard saying “he’s trying to cut his head off, hurry up, he’s slicing his head off” in what appears to be a phone call to emergency services.
Three members of the public then run in and attempt to pull the attacker off his victim before police arrive.
“Three men, one armed with a hurl, got the fella with the knife off the victim,” a witness told the Belfast Telegraph.
“A man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is in police custody while a second man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries,” police said in a statement.”
On Tuesday afternoon local time police confirmed the man was Sudanese and his his 30s and entered the UK from Dublin. Police said there was no information to suggest the attack was terror-related.
They also said a kitchen knife had been recovered at the scene and that the victim suffered “significant injuries to his eyes”.
DUP Councillor Jordan Doran said he was “shocked and deeply concerned” by the attack, which he called “completely unacceptable [and] understandably caused significant fear and anxiety amongst local residents”.
“The public will rightly expect a swift, thorough and robust investigation by the PSNI,” he said.
The attack sparked also anger on social media, with some calling it the brutal reality of mass third-world migration”.
