A woman has been sexually assaulted by a stranger after being dropped off by a rideshare driver near her home in Melbourne and passing out on a nature strip.
Victoria Police said the woman, 30, got out of the rideshare vehicle in Reservoir just before 2am on December 4 and lost consciousness.
She then woke up in an unknown unit on Strathmerton Street to find a man sexually assaulting her sometime between 2am and 4am. She pushed the man off before walking home and calling police.
Mernda Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives said it was not known how the woman was moved from the nature strip to this unit, which “appears to be unoccupied and often used by squatters and multiple unknown people”.
The rideshare driver has been identified and ruled out as a suspect, and detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.
“The man is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 50 and 60-years-old, with dark hair, olive skin, a thin build, and clean shaven,” police said.
