An African man has been charged with kidnapping and sex offences allegedly committed against a teenage boy who went missing for almost 24 hours in Sydney.
The boy, 16, was reported missing from Westmead in the city’s west on Sunday, with NSW Police saying at the time they had concerns for his welfare.
He was then located at a school in Plumpton the next morning, and police allege he was approached by an unknown man at Westmead Station being taken on a bus to the Mount Druitt area where he was allegedly assaulted.
Child Abuse Squad detectives then arrested 50-year-old Deng Atien Deng in Silverwater on Wednesday, and charged him with “take person intend commit serious indictable offence” and “aggravated sexually touch another person”.
Deng was remanded in custody and faced Burwood Local Court in Thursday where he made no further application for bail, The Daily Telegraph reported.
